Tips for Writing a Good Blog Post
Good writing is important if you want to be successful online. This article will show you how to make your writing more compelling and easy to read. Here are nine simple tips to help you create better articles and blog posts:
Start with a Catchy Headline
The first thing a reader is going to see is your headline. This means you need to be sure it grabs their attention and is relevant to their needs. A good headline should be about seven to twelve words long and give them a brief idea of what your article is about.
Write an Engaging Opening Paragraph
The opening paragraph of your blog post is critical in hooking readers and keeping them engaged. So start strong with an attention-getting opening line that will make readers want to keep reading.
Keep it Short
No one likes to read long, drawn-out articles. Posts that are between 500 and 800 words tend to perform best. So, focus on quality over quantity – make sure every word counts!
Use Images, Infographics, and Quotes
People are visual creatures – break up your text with images, infographics, and quotes to add interest and keep readers’ attention. Just make sure all your visual content is high-quality and relevant to your article.
Use Helpful Formatting Techniques
Formatting your blog post in an easy-to-read manner will help keep readers engaged. Use short paragraphs, bullet points, and subheadings to break up your text and make it easy to scan.
Write in a Natural and Conversational Tone
No one wants to read a blog post that sounds like a robot wrote it, so another tip for writing a good blog post is: Write in a natural, conversational tone that sounds more relatable and approachable. Write as though you were sitting down with someone and having a conversation with them.
Use Contractions
Contractions make your writing read more smoothly. Notice when you talk, you most likely use contractions. This is the way people naturally speak. Contractions make writing less boring and formal. So, instead of saying I can not wait to meet you, say I can’t wait to meet you. It simply sounds and looks better.
Optimize for Search Engines
If you want your blog post to be found by potential readers, you need to optimize it for search engines. Do your research to find the right keywords to target, and then use those keywords throughout your article, but don’t overdo it. You can read through your post after you finish and see if there is a spot or two where you could add the key phrase without the article being spammy to the reader.
Edit your work.
Check for grammatical errors and spelling mistakes or have a friend or family member do it for you. Read your writing aloud when finished. You’ll catch mistakes and areas of roughness that would go undetected if only read silently. Imagine that you’re the reader. If you find yourself stumbling over certain words, you may need to rewrite that portion.

I’m Lorene Troyer and I help small businesses and organizations create content in order to gain customers and followers. One of the challenges that I faced and that kept me from starting a blog was the need for a lot of content. Then I discovered PLR (Private Label Rights) content, also referred to as editable content. This was a game-changer for me. If creating content is a struggle for you, here are two sources of PLR that I personally use and recommend: Piggy Makes Bank, and Done-For-You Personal Development Content For Coaches, Speakers, Publishers And More.
