If you’re a content creator, you may already be familiar with private label rights (PLR) content. But if not, here’s a quick rundown. PLR stands for Private Label Rights. While the terms of use can vary, usually with PLR, the buyer gets the right to claim authorship and modify the content as they see fit. They can edit, rewrite, and rebrand the content to suit their needs. Then they can sell, give away, or use the content in various formats (e.g., blogs, eBooks, courses).
I’ve been using PLR for many years now and have discovered that it’s a great way to get quality content out quickly. However, one of the problems with using PLR is that it may be somewhat bland and impersonal. So today, let’s talk about how to spice up your PLR and make it more personal. Here are some ideas:
First of all, you want to customize PLR to fit your brand and audience. Add your own voice and perspective to make it unique. Customizing PLR content involves more than just tweaking a few words here and there. It’s about truly making the content your own. Think about your audience and tailor the content so that resonates with them.
Suppose you’re targeting busy moms interested in healthy living. You could customize the PLR content by adding practical tips for incorporating nutritious meals into a hectic schedule. You could also share a personal account about your own struggles with meal prep or maybe some success stories from other moms in your community.
Share your own insights as an expert. Let’s say you’re a fitness coach using PLR content on exercise routines. You could add your own expert insights by explaining the benefits of specific exercises, and how the exercises can be modified for different fitness levels, or you might debunk some of the common workout myths. By sharing your knowledge and experience, you enhance the credibility and value of your content.
You’ll also want to read through it and change any wording that doesn’t sound like you. In the free guide, “What is PLR and How the Heck Do I use It” by Piggy Makes Bank it states, “… Skim the article and start inserting your voice. This doesn’t have to be a big job and you shouldn’t be trying to rewrite each sentence. Instead, think of it as sprinkling a little flavor in the content. If you struggle with changing things too much and spending too much time on this, set yourself a 3-minute timer and get it done before the alert goes off.”
Adding some relevant images throughout the content can break up the text and make it more appealing. For example, if your PLR content is about travel tips, you can insert high-quality photos of scenic destinations, local cuisine, or iconic landmarks. Images can help illustrate key points, evoke emotions, and capture the reader’s attention.
Another idea is to use infographics. They are especially engaging and effective at presenting complex information in a digestible format. You can create infographics based on statistics, tips, or step-by-step guides. For instance, if you’re sharing health and wellness tips, you could design an infographic showcasing the benefits of various superfoods or illustrating a workout routine. My favorite way to make infographics is in Canva, by using their templates. (Note: I did have to watch a couple of videos before I understood how to do it.)
You’ll also want to break up long paragraphs into shorter, digestible chunks. Use subheadings, bullet points, and numbered lists to make the content easier to read and navigate. This approach helps readers find the information they need quickly. It also keeps them engaged, as large blocks of text can be overwhelming and hard to follow.
You can also add some stories. Share real-life examples or personal anecdotes to make your content more relatable and interesting. These stories can bring your points to life, make complex ideas easier to understand, as well as creating a stronger connection with your readers. They also make your content more memorable and engaging. People often remember stories better than facts alone, so including them can help your message stick. Additionally, stories can evoke emotions, making your audience feel more connected to what you are saying.
Provide actionable tips by giving ideas that your audience can implement right away. People love content that provides value and helps them solve their problems. It makes your content useful and keeps readers coming back for more because they know they’ll get real, helpful info they can actually use in their everyday lives. Here’s an example: If you’d be writing about how to stay productive while working from home, you might ask them to write out a schedule or take regular breaks or give them specific ways to minimize distractions.
And the last item in this article on how to use plr products, is to add a call to action at the end of the content to encourage readers to take the next step with you. Here are some ideas: ask them to sign up for your email list, or connect with you on social media or make a purchase, or share the content with others.
