Words and phrases can play an important part in finishing the look of your art cards or atc cards. Words can act as a focal point, add interest, help fill in spaces or set the mood for your art. They can also help drive home a point or help tell the story behind your art.
There are many ways to add words to your art cards. You use stamps, stencils or word stickers. Another handy option is handwriting. To succeed at writing your own words, you may want to practice first and then write it in pencil before making it permanent.
You might want to cut words out of magazines, newspapers or other periodicals. Another option is to print them out from your computer. This is one of my favorite ways to get words because I can choose the exact words I want as well as the type of font, the color and most importantly, I can make it any size I want.
I make a lot of art cards and was wasting a lot of precious time looking through old books and magazines to try and find words to use. I solved this problem by printing out a sheet of words from my computer. The words are small enough to use on my art cards and in other small pieces of art. It made the process of adding words so much simpler. Click the following link if you would like to have this printable download. FREE PRINTABLE WORDS
The problem with printed words is that they are so flat. You can give them more “oomph” by
by matting them with colored or textured cardstock or corrugated cardboard. You could also color around the edges with markers, ink, paint, shoe polish etc.
Another way to make your word more important is by putting it on a dimensional object. For example, a word could be placed on a small piece of wood or on a leaf, or in the center of a silk flower.
Words can make it easier to create and finish a piece of art. Save time and get your free printable now. Use it to embellish art cards and other small art projects. When your art is finished, comment below and show us what you did.
