I was looking through my paper stash a few days ago and found some old (but still beautiful) black and gold lettered paper. I decided to make a gold and black card.
If you don’t have any gold and black paper, you can create your own by stamping a subtle gold design on black paper.
For this project, you’ll need:
10 by 7 inch piece of white or black cardstock
scrap piece of black paper
scrap of white paper or cardstock
6 inch piece of lace
6 inch strip of black paper, slightly wider than the lace (optional)
black and gold lettered paper
gold craft paint and sponge brush
heart stamp (with swirl design)
square shape template, pencil (optional)
paper cutter or scissors, permanent glue stick, tacky glue
Paint the piece of lace and the scrap piece of white cardstock with the gold craft paint and set aside to dry.
Form a 5 x 7 card using the 10 x 7 inch cardstock. Cut a 4¾ x 6¾ rectangle from the black and gold lettered paper and adhere to center of card, using a permanent gluestick.
Stamp a gold heart on a piece of black cardstock, then using the template and pencil, draw a border around the heart. This step is optional, it’ll give the heart a little more interest. Tear it out, staying about ¼-inch outside the border. Cut out a square of the gold paper, slightly larger than the heart. Center and adhere the heart onto the gold paper and put on card as shown.
Attach the gold lace to the black strip of paper (optional) and attach to the bottom of the card with tacky glue.
Instead of black and gold, you could use red and gold or silver and navy. I encourage you to use whatever colors you have on hand to make this elegant card. You could use it as a wedding or anniversary card or even as a valentine’s day card.
