No doubt, you have purchased or at least seen a multitude of offers for “eBooks”, e-courses, training courses, or short reports on every topic that you can imagine. Why is that? Because information is the hottest product on the market! Information cuts straight to the root of all selling, which is answering the customer’s question: “What will this product do for me?”
It doesn’t take much to create an information product (other than the hard knocks you went through in order to gain the experience and knowledge), They are easy and fairly inexpensive to deliver to the customer. That’s what makes them so great for us, as entrepreneurs, to offer. Everyone has life experience, training, and skills that others don’t have. Everyone knows something that others want to know or can do something that others want to learn. That’s how I know you have an Information product inside you, everyone does.
Information products are virtually free to create. By sitting in front of your computer and transferring your knowledge and ideas to words in a word processing program you can produce an information product. This can be done in a matter of days or hours. Traditional products can take months or years to create. Once you know the process of creating an information product it can be done again and again. Once the information product be it an ebook, an audio product or a video is uploaded to a hosting account, it becomes an asset that you own
If you sell standard products but don’t have a lot of money to invest in new stock or inventory then information products allow you to add a new product with little expense.
Now you may be thinking, “But I sell candles how can I write an information product about candles?” Well, you don’t necessarily have to write about candles, people interested in candles may also be interested in home organization or aroma therapy. Talk to your customers and readers and find out what information they are craving.
If you sell personalized candy wrappers you may be able to write about how to throw the perfect kids’ party. Or you might even give them ideas on how to start their own candy-wrapping business…and show them how they can buy all their supplies from you!
You can write information products for just about any market. People go on the internet to search for information and often times they’re quite happy to pay for the information rather than spend their valuable time searching through multiple websites to get free information. Huge sellers like ClickBank.com are a testament to this fact.
Here are a few more reasons why every online business owner should have their own information product:
– They add a lot of value to your customers and readers and they’re relatively easy to put together.
– You do the work once and you’ll have a product that’ll keep producing for you over and over again.
– You can create an affiliate program and get others to promote your product.
– You can take a short portion of the product, turn it into a free report and use it to build your mailing list (and of course promote your paid product).
– It’s an extra passive income stream for your business, especially when everything is downloaded right off the Internet. There’s no need to go to the post office and pay for shipping.
Information products can be a great way to help you market your business, increase your income and help you establish yourself as an expert.
